One of my favourite things about the festive period is my annual trip to London. I never truly feel like Christmas is here until I’ve been! I love the Christmas Markets, decorations everywhere and the usual monotonous hustle and bustle of London has a much more light hearted atmosphere.
Covent Garden is so beautiful at Christmas and one of my favourite parts of London. From the massive Christmas tree up outside, to the decorations in the indoor market. There are lots of different shops and I usually find myself spending far too much money!
Although not very festive, I decided to visit Shake Shack for lunch. The Covent Garden Shake Shack was the first one in the UK, although they now have a few more restaurants around London. I am not surprised at their expansion as despite the slightly higher than expected price, the food was really good.
You place your order inside their shop, then you go and take a seat in the centre of the indoor market which is very pleasant as you have a great view of lots of shops. You are given a buzzer which alarms you when your order is ready.
As you can see from the photo, I was very greedy and decided to get the ‘Shack Stack’ Burger which consisted of a cheeseburger, a shroom burger, salad and Shack sauce. I would highly recommend it! The burger meat is beefy, tender and seasoned to perfection. The Shack Sauce is a burger sauce with an extra kick – delicious. The shroom burger adds a whole new dimension with the crispy outside and juicy mushroom centre. It is quite messy to eat though, so I would definitely make sure that you’re sat down!
I opted for the cheesy fries which I wouldn’t normally do as I hate plastic cheese sauces, but somebody had recommended this to me and I wasn’t disappointed. This was a really great cheese sauce – rich and creamy with a nutty cheddar flavour.
There is a wide range of places to choose from to eat in the Covent Garden area, but if you fancy a fairly quick, yet delicious meal, Shake Shack won’t disappoint.
